This one-hour course provides an overview of Florida-Friendly turfgrass selection and management practices; explanation of how turfgrass is Florida-Friendly; turfgrass species for home lawns and commercial properties; how to select appropriate turfgrass species; and Best Management Practices for fertilization, shade tolerance, mowing and irrigation for establishment of turfgrass and beyond.

This course qualifies for one continuing education credit (CEU) for Landscape Architects, Community Association Managers, and FNGLA Certified Horticulture Professional.

Continuing Education Credits

This course is eligible for 1 continuing education credit for

  • Landscape Architecture “Optional” category
  • Community Association Manager “Operation of the Community Association’s Physical Property” category
  • FNGLA Certified Horticulture Professional

For CEU credit you must complete the “Enter License Number for CEU Credit” assignment.

Course Description

This course consists of 14 short videos, two practice quizzes, and a course test. You must score at least 75% on the course test to earn your certificate of completion. Information about receiving your certificate of completion will be available after you've passed the course test and submitted the course survey.

Objectives

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe how turfgrass reduces effects of urban nonpoint source pollution.
  • Describe four common lawn grasses used in Florida.
  • Describe how environmental stresses affect plant health and how they can be managed.
  • Describe four landscape best management practices to protect water resources.
