This one-hour course provides an overview of Florida State Statute 373.185, the legislation concerning Florida-Friendly Landscaping™, and how it affects communities and homeowner associations. We will provide examples of how the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program has worked with communities across the state to help them reduce their water consumption, fertilizer, and pesticide use, saving both time and money.

This course qualifies for one continuing education credit (CEU) for Landscape Architects, Community Association Managers, and FNGLA Certified Horticulture Professional.

Continuing Education Credits

This course is eligible for 1 continuing education credit for

  • Landscape Architecture “Optional” category
  • Community Association Manager “Operation of the Community Association’s Physical Property” category
  • FNGLA Certified Horticulture Professional

For CEU credit you must complete the “Enter License Number for CEU Credit” assignment.

Please allow 2 weeks for CEU credits to be submitted to the licensing agency.

Course Description

This course consists of three short videos, a “Frequently Asked Questions” activity, and a course test. You must score at least 75% on the course test to earn your certificate of completion and continuing education credit. Information about how to view and print your certificate of completion will be available after you've passed the course test and submitted the course survey.

Objectives

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the definition of Florida State Statute 373.185
  • Identify frequently asked questions regarding the statue
  • Recognize easy first steps to converting to FFL
  • Recognize that the FFL Program has worked with communities to help them reduce their water consumption, fertilizer, and pesticide use.
  • Recognize that there can be significant water savings by implementing FFL in their communities.
  • Recognize the importance of well written covenants
