The Occupational Therapy Department at the University of Florida is an Approved Provider in Continuing Education (#5208) by The American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc.

Instructor: Linda R. Struckmeyer Ph.D., OTR/L

Description: In this course, the author provides an overview of the doctoral capstone experience and project. Roles of all collaborators are explained.  The training focus is on the role of the capstone site mentor and also includes the related paperwork requirements.

Target Audience: This course is well-suited for occupational therapists as well as other professionals with expertise in the student’s area of doctoral capstone work.

Educational Level: Intermediate.  Information is geared to practitioners with a general working knowledge of rehabilitation and service delivery. Focus is on a basic understanding and application of the subject matter.

Modality: One (1) hour course during which the learner will view a streaming video presentation, reference PowerPoint® slides, and take a multiple choice post-test.

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Gain an understanding of the doctoral capstone experience, capstone project & process
  • Identify the collaborators & their role in the capstone process
  • Describe components & benefits of a successful doctoral capstone experience & project

Completion Requirements

0.1 AOTA CEUs (1 Contact Hour for State of Florida Occupational Therapy practitioners) will be awarded upon a successful completion of a multiple choice post-test. Participants will be able to print a certificate of completion after completing a short course evaluation in addition to the post-test. The UF Occupational Therapy Department will enter the Contact Hour into the CEBroker database for Florida licensed occupational therapy practitioners: Florida CEBroker Tracking # 20-788836.
