Course Overview

This course is accredited for one hour of CPE credit and consists of four parts:

2. Course Material
3. Exam
4. Course Evaluation

Learning Objectives

Pharmacists

At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

• Define Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)
• Describe disease epidemiology
• Recognize modes of transmission including transmission between healthcare workers and patients
• Identify infection control procedures, including universal precautions
• Classify differences between related infections including tuberculosis, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C
• Select preferred therapies to individual’s clinical management
• Recommend evidence-based methods for HIV/AIDS prevention including post- and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PEP and PrEP)
• Adhere to Florida laws regarding testing, confidentiality of test results, and patient treatment

Students must complete the final exam with a score of at least 70% and submit a course evaluation. The University of Florida College of Pharmacy will report CPE credit to CPE Monitor and CEBroker when applicable. If you would like a paper statement of credit, you may print it from your NABP e-profile.
