Course Description

The Department of Periodontology offers an advanced education course entitled “Internship in Periodontology & Implant Dentistry.” The experience can be tailored to the desires of the intern with experiences in clinical periodontics and implant dentistry, clinical or basic research and didactic Periodontology courseware all available. Professionals considering to pursue graduate training in Periodontology, may benefit from this Internship Program.

This course is designed to give interns experience in didactic/clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry that will expand their knowledge and experience in these fields. Intern will attend all departmental courses and lectures with the residents. In addition, interns assist and observe clinical procedures. We also offer the intern an opportunity to work on a basic or clinical research project during the course. The research may be presented at the American Academy of Periodontology Annual meeting and could also be published in the literature.

Program Details

This course is twelve months (1year) in length, beginning July 1 and ending on June 30. Tuition is remitted in four (4) equal installments of $8,750.00 (for a total of $35,000/year). Upon completion of the Internship, 1200 CEU’s and a certificate of completion from the Continuing Education Department is awarded. In addition, you will need to purchase a laptop (College’s choice), scrubs, and certain textbooks. Details will be provided upon acceptance.

Completion of the Continuing Education Internship Program is an educational goal in itself, and in no way insures acceptance to a Postgraduate Residency Program.  Although many resources will be provided by the selected Department, this is a Continuing Education program and is not listed on the University of Florida Registrar’s records
