Course Description:

This course is designed for the healthcare professional who has experience in driving rehabilitation and is considering starting a private practice. The presenter provides an overview of information that needs to be gathered in order to make an informed decision about pursuing private practice. Participants will learn about business tools and strategies to guide their decision. In addition, the course includes a spreadsheet to create a financial plan for a driving rehabilitation practice.

Target Audience

This course is well-suited for entrepreneurial certified driving rehabilitation specialists who are contemplating the start-up of a private practice.

Education Level

Advanced: Course content is geared to practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter based on current theories and standards of practice as well as current literature and research. Focus is on recent advanced and trends, and/or research applications.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • List information needed to make informed business decisions about pursuing private practice.
  • Apply a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis to appraise driving rehabilitation practice scenarios.
  • Use a spreadsheet to create financial projections of driving rehabilitation practice scenarios.

Completion Requirements

0.1 AOTA CEUs (1 Contact Hour for State of Florida Occupational Therapy practitioners) will be awarded upon a successful completion of a multiple choice post-test. Participants will be able to print a certificate of completion after completing a short course evaluation in addition to the post-test. The UF Occupational Therapy Department will enter the Contact Hour into the CEBroker database for Florida licensed occupational therapy practitioners: Florida CEBroker Tracking #20-649628

 Instructional Methods

The learner will view a streaming video presentation, reference PowerPoint® slides, and take a multiple choice post-test.
