The Occupational Therapy Department at the University of Florida is an Approved Provider in Continuing Education (#5208) by The American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc.

Description: In this course, the author provides an overview of the case management. Definitions and roles among health professionals are included.  The training also includes the types funding supporting case management and why rehabilitation professionals make great case managers.

Target Audience: This course is well-suited for occupational therapists as well as other professionals with a background in rehabilitation.

Educational Level: Intermediate.  Information is geared to practitioners with a general working knowledge of rehabilitation and service delivery. Focus is on a basic understanding and application of the subject matter.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Define case management.
  • Describe what professionals are case managers.
  • Describe where case management typically take place.
  • Differentiate between the types of case management funding.
  • Summarize the roles and functions of case managers.
  • Detail the principles that drive case management service delivery.
  • Explain why rehabilitation professionals make great case managers.

Completion Requirements

0.1 AOTA CEUs (1 Contact Hour for State of Florida Occupational Therapy practitioners) will be awarded upon a successful completion of a multiple choice post-test. Participants will be able to print a certificate of completion after completing a short course evaluation in addition to the post-test. The UF Occupational Therapy Department will enter the Contact Hour into the CEBroker database for Florida licensed occupational therapy practitioners: Florida CEBroker Tracking # 20-626065.
