This module serves as a basic introduction to arts in health and the UF online course system.* This course satisfies a pre-requisite requirement for those interested in applying to our MA in Arts in Medicine, the Graduate Certificate in Arts in Medicine, and the Graduate Certificate in Arts in Public Health.**

The learning objectives of this module are:

  1. Students will understand how the field of arts in medicine developed in relationship to the U.S. healthcare system and related disciplines, such as the arts therapies
  2. Students will define the fields of arts in medicine and arts in public health
  3. Students will identify and articulate the boundaries of practice within the discipline of arts in medicine
  4. Students will identify the importance of, and basic concepts related to, patient safety in healthcare settings
  5. Students will analyze basic applications of the arts in healthcare and community settings
  6. Students will analyze and articulate how the arts can enhance healthcare and public health
  7. Students will become familiar with professional opportunities within the disciplines of arts in medicine and arts in public health.

*This course is self-paced and is not representative of our graduate program course work. Our online graduate courses provide deeper learning materials, moderated discussion boards, interaction with faculty, feedback and grading on assignments, and require much more academic rigor than the Creating for the Health of It module.
