Course Description

Annual infection control, bloodborne pathogen, and TB education is required by JCAHO, ACHA, and OSHA. It is also important for you to review your role in infection control at this time.

Many of the topics included in this self-study module are mandated by either licensing or accrediting agencies. The other topics are important for healthcare infection control and will clarify your role in Infection Control.

Course Objectives

Upon Completion of this session, the participant will be able to:

  1. Discuss key elements of the infection control program
  2. Describe the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan
  3. Describe the TB Control Plan
  4. Describe key elements of the Biohazardous Waste Management Plan
  5. Discuss their individual role in Infection Control

Faculty

Nicholas J. Grimaudo, D.M.D., M.S., M.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Grimaudo completed a doctoral degree in educational administration and policy at UF College of Education in 2007 .  In addition to teaching and developing coursework on treatment planning and clinical dentistry, Dr. Grimaudo teaches continuing education courses for healthcare professionals in varied topics . He is owner of OSHA Compliance Training Associates and consults with medical and dental offices on OSHA, HIPAA and Risk management issues.  He has lectured nationally and internationally on risk management, recordkeeping and compliance, ethics and jurisprudence, treatment planning and other practice-related topics. He is currently completing a textbook on Protecting Patient Safety in the Dental Office: Preventing Medical and Dental Errors.
